Anemoi Marine Technologies is a leading supplier of Rotor Sails, a form of wind propulsion helping to reduce ship fuel consumption and lower emissions by 5-30%. Rotor Sails are modern mechanical sails that were first installed on a vessel over 100 years ago. Through research and innovation, Anemoi has reimagined the proven technology for commercial use on modern ships, designed to work alongside complex vessel operations and making it suitable for most ship types as retrofit and newbuild. As other energy-saving devices and alternative fuels become market-ready, Rotor Sails can also be used in conjunction to achieve enhanced environmental benefits.
The Hong Kong Marine Department carries out crucial functions to ensure the safe operation of the port and all Hong Kong waters, to administer the Hong Kong Shipping Registry (HKSR) and to safeguard the quality of the Hong Kong registered ships. Our mission is “We are One in Promoting Excellence in Marine Services”.The HKSR is the fourth largest register in the world in terms of gross tonnage, with about 2400 ships that aggregate some 132 million gross tonnage. The HKSR is also renowned for the good quality of Hong Kong registered ships and is constantly included in the white list of the Paris MoU, the Tokyo MoU and recognized by the USCG as Qualship 21 flag Administration. Our policy is not to seek any profit from ship registration fees and most services are provided on a cost-recovery basis. Since 2020, we have established seven regional desks - including London, Singapore, Shanghai, Tokyo, Australia, Canada and the US.While the HKSR registration fee is already very competitive among other major flags, we launched the "green incentive" in June 2024 and will also introduce the "block registration incentive" for Hong Kong registered ships in 2024 and beyond.
